| My Great Dane mix had what my vet and I thought was a pretty bad skin condition. His rashes were particularly bad in the summertime. I gave him oatmeal baths once or twice a week to try to give him some relief.
We moved to a new area and Bingo started going to a new vet. This new doctor recognized that Bingos skin problem was related to allergies. After some testing we found that he was allergic to beef protein, a cruel affliction for a dog, especially for one who was very fond of steak bones. We tried a couple of different foods and finally settled on one which I could only purchase through the vet for $42.00 per 20 lb. bag.
Like most dog food, this was light, airy kibble which did not go very far, but, the bag was big! My younger dog China knew that Bingo was getting a different kind of food right away. She would take one bite of her food, then, watch as Bingo ate his food, go over to his empty bowl and sniff after he was done, return to her bowl, sniff it, then walk away leaving a bowl of food for the fire ants. I was forced to start feeding them both the special food that Bingo was getting so that she would eat. With a combined weight of 190 lbs, these two dogs could go through alot of dog food and money at $42/ 20 lb. bag.
By chance, one day, I met a distributor of Flint River Ranch dog food. She told me what a wonderful set of products that this company produces without preservatives or artificial additives, formulated by animal loving biochemical experts to provide complete nutrition. I decided to give it a try. Knowing that Bingo was allergic to beef protein, I opted for the Lamb, Millet and Rice product.
Both dogs devoured their ration as soon as I set it down for them. Bingo no longer has any kind of visible skin rash, China is happy to be eating the same thing as Bingo... everyone is happy, except for the fire ants, they go hungry at dog feeding time. This new food is much more dense than the prescription diet that I had been feeding, so, a 20 lb. bag lasts me 13 days instead of 10 and costs considerably less. Once we worked out a delivery schedule, one 20 lb. bag arrives on my front doorstep via UPS every 13 days. When my delivery date falls on a Sunday or a holiday, FRR ships a day early, so, I am never caught short on food for my dogs.
I am very happy with both the product and the service provided by FRR.
